Understanding activities and their attributes

Activities capture user behaviors, such as placing an order or opening an email. They are always noted in the past tense, like Placed order or Opened email. Each activity can have attributes that provide more context. For example, for a Placed order, key details might include the total amount and items ordered.

EX: Placed Order

  • Activity: Placed order
  • Total: $199
  • Total Items: 11
  • Items: Rubber ducky, Shoes, Slides, Glitter
  • City: Sydney

In this case, the activity tells us what happened and includes important details such as the order total, the number of items, and the city. This information allows you to filter and analyze user behavior, like finding out how many people placed more than 2 orders in the past 30 days with a total over $150.

Activities are linked to people in your database using their email or a unique ID. If you send us an activity for someone we haven't seen before, a new profile will automatically be created by default.
