SMS preference center

Overview

The SMS preference center page allows users to configure the content of Ortto’s web pages for its SMS subscription preferences. These web pages are accessible when the recipient of an Ortto SMS message (sent from an SMS or journey campaign) clicks on the link preceded by the SMS opt-out method text towards the end of each of these SMS messages.

Accessing the SMS preference center

To access the SMS preference center page, navigate to Settings > Channels > SMS > Preference center.

Managing the SMS preference center

The SMS preference center page allows users to:

Configure the home web page content

This web page appears when you click the link labeled with SMS opt-out method at the end of each Ortto SMS message. It includes any audiences set up to appear in Ortto's SMS preference center.

Update content

  • Navigate to SMS preference center.
  • Expand the Home section.
  • Update the Message text box with your desired text.
    • Use formatting options to adjust text size, alignment (left, center, right), and bold text.

Insert elements

  • Insert a link: Click to insert a link, specify the link title, and enter the URL.
  • Insert an emoji: Click to insert an emoji from the popup
  • Insert a field or activity attribute value (merge tag): Select the item or attribute, complete the options, and click Save to insert it.

Manage audiences

  • Edit the default All SMS messages option or reorder other audience options in the audiences section.

Customize buttons and messages

  • Edit the text of the default Save button and the message that appears when preferences are updated.

Click Save at the bottom right corner of the page to apply your changes.

NOTE: When choosing an activity attribute as your merge tag:

  • We'll use the most recent activity for that contact.
  • For journey SMS message edits with entry criteria like X activity occurs, we'll use the activity that triggered entry into the journey, even if more activities have happened since then.
  • The activity must be within the last 30 days to be accessible. If you need the value beyond this period, we suggest saving it to a custom field and using that as your merge tag instead.

NOTE: Audience options will only appear if they are set up in the relevant audience view's Setup section. You cannot reorder audience options above the All SMS messages option, as it must remain at the top of the list.
