How to identify warming issues
The following are key indicators of warming issues during ramp-up:
- High bounce rates.
- High deferral rates.
- Low open rates.
Why do these issues occur?
Most domain/IP warming issues arise from one or more of the following causes:
- Blocklisting.
- List-health issues.
- Improper volume ramp-up.
- Accidental send.
How to resolve these warm-up issues
Follow the relevant recommendations based on the specific factors affecting domain or IP warming to effectively address and resolve issues.
Blocklisting issues
Submit a removal request to the relevant blocklist provider.

List-health issues
- Remove long-term unengaged subscribers (those who haven't opened in over 12 months).
- Ensure all signups sources are secured with CAPTCHA.
- Learn more about how to enable Google reCAPTCHA.
- Remove all recipients who have not directly opted in to marketing content.
- If issue continues, focus on recently engaged subscribers (signed up or opened in the last 90 days).

Improper volume ramp-up
- Contact Ortto's Support team to identify a safe and sending volume to return to.
- Strictly follow the advised daily-maximum ramp-up guidance.
Accidental sends during warming
- Resume warming from the last successful stage before accidental send.
- For the next few sends, focus on highly engaged contacts (last 90 days).
- If a correction email is necessary, use automation to send to only contacts who opened or clicked on the original message.
