HubSpot actions

This page describes all HubSpot actions which are added to your Ortto account after integrating Ortto with HubSpot when configuring HubSpot as a new data source.

These actions are available in Ortto’s journey and playbook campaigns, and allow you to update object records in Hubspot service itself, as well as fields in your Ortto account’s CDP.

The HubSpot actions described on this page are available from either the:

  • left Action > HubSpot section of a journey campaign (in edit mode) or
  • Actions option > New action button > HubSpot tab on the resulting New playbook action page of a playbook campaign.

Create record, Update record, and Create or update a record

The Create recordUpdate record, and Create or update a record actions allow you to create or update object records in HubSpot. The HubSpot object types available are based on those imported after integrating Ortto with HubSpot.

Upon choosing one of these actions:

  1. On the Setup page, choose from one of the HubSpot Object types.
  2. Click Add field to add one or more relevant fields.
    Ortto will automatically pre-populate as many of these fields with appropriate merge tag values from your account’s CDP. See the available object fields at Action fields.
    You also have the ability to specify your own merge tag values using the filter feature provided.
  3. To associate the object record with another HubSpot object, click Add association.
    Adding an association will update the associated object records with the fields you select.
  4. Click either:
    • Test action — to test the Create record action.
    • Create — to add the action to your journey or playbook campaign.

NOTE: If you do, ensure these values map to valid HubSpot field values for your chosen object type. Otherwise, Ortto will return the relevant HubSpot error and this HubSpot action will fail in the campaign it has been used in. Learn more about using filters in Working with filters.

NOTE: Testing an action will actually execute the action and the results will be noticeable in your HubSpot service.
