Managing people’s phone numbers
Overview
To ensure your SMS campaigns are delivered successfully, always use the correct phone number format, including the country code.
EX: A US number should be formatted as +1 555 555 5555.
Encourage customers to enter their full phone number with the country code when filling out forms on your website. Make sure any integrated data sources also include the country code to sync properly with Ortto.
This helps ensure your SMS messages are delivered successfully.
Add or edit a person’s phone number
To add a country code to a phone number:
- Navigate to CDP > People and open the contact profile you want to update.
- In the person details panel, find the Phone number field (usually under About).
- Hover over the phone number field and click the edit icon.
- Click the flag icon to select the country code, then click the tick to save.
This will update the phone number with the correct country code.
Set a fallback country code
If most of your contacts are from the same country, you can set a fallback country code. This will ensure Ortto automatically adds the correct country code when sending SMS to contacts without one.
To set the fallback country code:
- Go to Settings > Channels > SMS > SMS Limits and Fallback.
- Select the Fallback country code.
