Send messages to Slack

Overview

Integrating with Slack allows users to send updates to Slack channels using Ortto data. This way, users can keep their team informed about new leads, support conversations, marketing metrics, and more.

NOTE: Before proceeding, ensure that you have connected Slack as a data source.

Accessing Slack messages

To access Slack messages you have two options:

Journeys

Navigate to Marketing > Campaigns > Select your journey 

Playbooks

Navigate to Marketing > Campaigns > Select your playbook


Slack messages in journeys

Journeys allow you to send messages to private or public Slack channels utilizing Ortto data.

  1. Select the + button.
  2. Select Action.
  3. Select Send Slack message.
  4. Select the relevant Slack channel.
  5. Design your message, utilizing emojis and merge tags.
  6. Choose how often the message can be sent and what should happen to the contact if the message fails.
    1. This can occur:
      1. Only once - This message is sent only the first time a contact passes through the shape, even if they enter the journey multiple times.
      2. More than once - This message is sent each time a contact enters the journey and passes through the shape.
    2. If this action fails:
      1. Person will proceed in the journey - The contact will move to the next shape.
      2. Person will exit the journey - The contact will exit the journey, no matter their current position.
  7. You can Test the action to see how the message appears in the Slack channel.
  8. Select Create to finish the set up.

Slack messages in playbooks

Playbooks allow you to send messages to private or public Slack channels utilizing Ortto data.

  1. Select Actions.
  2. Select New Action.
  3. Select Send Slack message.
  4. Select Next.
  5. Select the relevant Slack channel.
  6. Design your message, utilizing emojis and merge tags.
  7. You can Test the action to see how the message appears in the Slack channel.
  8. Select Create to finish the set up.
