Preference center

The Preference center page allows you to configure the content of Ortto’s web pages for its SMS subscription preferences. These web pages are accessible when the recipient of an Ortto SMS message (sent from an SMS or journey campaign) clicks on the link preceded by the SMS opt-out method text towards the end of each of these SMS messages.

Access the Preference center page

To access the Preference center page, navigate to Settings  SMS  Preference center.

On the resulting Content page, you can configure the:

Configure the Home web page content

This web page:

  • appears after a recipient clicks the link preceded by the SMS opt-out method text towards the end of each Ortto SMS message, and
  • includes any audiences configured to appear as an SMS preference center option.

To configure this web page:

  1. On the Preference center page’s Content page, click to expand the Home section.
  2. In the Message text box, update the existing text as required. You can use this box’s text formatting features to alter a block of text’s size or justification (left, center or right), as well as bold format individual words or letters of text. You can also insert any of the following items in the web page by first clicking the location (identified by your cursor) to:
    • Insert a link:
      1. Click to insert a link.
      2. In the resulting Link title field, specify the text that will be linked in the web page.
      3. In the URL field, specify the actual URL for the Linked title.
      4. Click Insert to insert the link at your chosen location.
    • Insert an emoji:
      1. Click to insert an emoji.
      2. In the resulting emoji popup, use the search field at the top or the category selector at the bottom to filter the list of emojis.
      3. Click the emoji to insert it at your chosen location.
    • Insert a field or activity's attribute value (also known as a merge tag):
      1. In the resulting popup, select the relevant field item or activity from the list:
        • For a field item:
          1. Select the specific field.
          2. Complete your chosen field’s remaining value options.
          3. Click Save to insert the field value at your chosen location.
        • For an activity’s attribute:
          1. Select the activity’s specific attribute.
          2. Complete your chosen activity’s remaining attribute value options.
          3. Click Save to insert the activity’s attribute value at your chosen location.
  3. In the Audiences section:
    • To change the wording of the default All SMS messages option, click  edit to edit this option’s text.
    • To change the order of any other audience options configured to appear in this section, click and hold  re-order and move the option to its new location amongst the list of other audience options.
  4. To change the wording of the default Save button, edit its text in the Button field.
  5. To change the wording of the default Preferences updated successfully message, which appears when an audience option is either opted in or out, or the All SMS messages option is opted in, edit its text in the Message on save field.
  6. Click Save towards the end of the page to save all changes you have made to the page.

NOTE:

If you are selecting an activity attribute as your merge tag, we will use the latest activity for that person (contact). However, if you are editing a journey SMS message, and the entry criteria is of type X activity occurs, then we will use the activity that caused the person to enter the journey instead, even if more activities have occurred since then.



The activity must have occurred within the last 30 days to be available. If you require the value to be available beyond this, we recommend saving the value into a custom field and use this as your merge tag instead

NOTE:

  • Audiences only appear here if they have been configured through the relevant audience view’s Setup section.



  • It is not possible to move an audience option above the All SMS messages option, as that option must remain at the top of the list

Configure the opted-out web page content

This web page:

  • appears after turning off the All SMS messages option on the Home web page and clicking its save/submit button, and
  • requests a choice of standard feedback options from the recipient.

To configure this web page:

  1. On the Preference center page’s Content page, click to expand the Status > Opt-out section.
  2. In the Message text box, update the existing text as required. You can use this box’s text formatting features to alter a block of text’s size or justification (left, center or right), as well as bold format individual words or letters of text. You can also insert any of the following items in the web page by first clicking the location (identified by your cursor) to:
    • Insert a link:
      1. Click to insert a link.
      2. In the resulting Link title field, specify the text that will be linked in the web page.
      3. In the URL field, specify the actual URL for the Linked title.
      4. Click Insert to insert the link at your chosen location.
    • Insert an emoji:
      1. Click to insert an emoji.
      2. In the resulting emoji popup, use the search field at the top or the category selector at the bottom to filter the list of emojis.
      3. Click the emoji to insert it at your chosen location.
    • Insert a field or activity's attribute value (also known as a merge tag):
      1. In the resulting popup, select the relevant field item or activity from the list:
        • For a field item:

          3. Click Save to insert the field value at your chosen location.
        • For an activity’s attribute:
          1. Select the activity’s specific attribute.
          2. Complete your chosen activity’s remaining attribute value options.
          3. Click Save to insert the activity’s attribute value at your chosen location.
  3. For the Text translation list, choose the language for the text and links that appear below Submit on this web page.

NOTE:

Configure the opted-in web page content

This web page appears after clicking the resubscribe link towards the end of the opted-out web page.

To configure this web page:

  1. On the Preference center page’s Content page, click to expand the Status > Opt-in section.

You can use this box’s text formatting features to alter a block of text’s size or justification (left, center or right), as well as bold format individual words or letters of text. You can also insert any of the following items in the web page by first clicking the location (identified by your cursor) to:
    • Insert a link:
      1. Click to insert a link.
      2. In the resulting Link title field, specify the text that will be linked in the web page.
      3. In the URL field, specify the actual URL for the Linked title.
      4. Click Insert to insert the link at your chosen location.
    • Insert an emoji:
      1. Click to insert an emoji.
      2. In the resulting emoji popup, use the search field at the top or the category selector at the bottom to filter the list of emojis.
      3. Click the emoji to insert it at your chosen location.
    • Insert a field or activity's attribute value (also known as a merge tag):
      1. In the resulting popup, select the relevant field item or activity from the list:
        • For a field item:
          1. Select the specific field.
          2. Complete your chosen field’s remaining value options.
          3. Click Save to insert the field value at your chosen location.
        • For an activity’s attribute:
          1. Select the activity’s specific attribute.
          2. Complete your chosen activity’s remaining attribute value options.
          3. Click Save to insert the activity’s attribute value at your chosen location.
  3. To add an image to this web page, click the upload icon in the GIF options section. In the Upload an image dialog, drag and drop your image file (supported file types are indicated) into the dashed rectangular area of this dialog. Alternatively, click the or browse for the file on your computer link in the center of the dialog to browse for your image file to upload to Ortto.
  4. If an existing image has already been uploaded, you can click:
    • Replace to open the Upload an image dialog and replace the existing image.
    • Remove to remove the existing image.
  5. Click Save towards the end of the page to save all changes you have made to the page.

Configure the thanks (opted-out feedback) web page content

This web page appears after selecting a feedback option on the opted-out web page and clicking Submit.

To configure this web page:

  1. On the Preference center page’s Content page, click to expand the Thanks > Any section.
  2. In the Message text box, update the existing text as required. You can use this box’s text formatting features to alter a block of text’s size or justification (left, center or right), as well as bold format individual words or letters of text. You can also insert any of the following items in the web page by first clicking the location (identified by your cursor) to:
    • Insert a link:
      1. Click to insert a link.
      2. In the resulting Link title field, specify the text that will be linked in the web page.
      3. In the URL field, specify the actual URL for the Linked title.
      4. Click Insert to insert the link at your chosen location.
    • Insert an emoji:
      1. Click to insert an emoji.
      2. In the resulting emoji popup, use the search field at the top or the category selector at the bottom to filter the list of emojis.
      3. Click the emoji to insert it at your chosen location.

  3. To add an image to this web page, click the upload icon  in the GIF options section. In the Upload an image dialog, drag and drop your image file (supported file types are indicated) into the dashed rectangular area of this dialog.
